Dear Credit Union Member:

The beginning of a new year is a time to
look back on the past, but even more a time
to look toward the future. Many people see
a new year as a time to make a clean start.
At GEMC FCU, we want to be a resource
to our members who are striving to make a
clean start when it comes to financial
organization.

Many times a commitment to keeping your
finances organized is one of the first casualties of a hectic schedule. If this has happened to you in the past, don’t give up.
Make 2007 your year to start fresh. Begin
right now to establish a system for record
retention. GEMC FCU is making that easier
for you with the introduction of eStatements. By late spring, you’ll be able to receive your account statement securely online. With eStatements you will be able to access account history.

Part of financial organization is a disciplined
savings plan. Check out all the savings

won’t help you if your personal information
is stolen. We have received many reports of
phishing among our members. If you
receive an e-mail that claims to be from
GEMC FCU or any other financial institution
asking you to verify or send personal information, never respond! We will absolutetly never contact you through e-mail for your personal information. If you suspect a phishing attempt, please call us immediately.

We have also received reports of another scam that has surfaced recently. The scam works like this: you receive a letter and a check. You are asked to deposit the check, keep a certain percentage of the money, and wire back the remainder of the funds. In actuality, the funds don't come through. You
get nothing and actually end up owing money. If you receive a letter like this, report it to the post office immediately.
