Credit Union member Rochelle Martin wanted a vehicle that was comfortable; however with rising gas prices, fuel economy was a big factor. After a lot of research, she determined that the Camry Hybrid was the best choice for her.

“The Camry Hybrid is a very comfortable car and it comes with a lot of great features. I have allergies and the special air filtration system helps filter out pollen and dust. I am a tall person and the special adjustable seats and lumbar support make driving this car very comfortable,” said Ms. Martin. In her old vehicle she would have to fill up every three days. Now she only visits the gas station twice a month!

Ms. Martin used GEMC FCU’s car buying service, Car Solutions, to locate her new Camry. “I knew the features and color that I wanted and it was difficult to find the car on my own. Car Solutions found the right car and delivered it to me. They made the experience a lot less stressful,” Ms. Martin explained. “In the past, I have spent hours haggling with auto dealers over the price and financing. At the credit union, I was able to pick up my new car and close the loan in less than 10 minutes!”

GEMC FCU offers members a lower interest rate on Hybrid vehicles. In addition, the credit union gives members a 1/2% loan discount on vehicles purchased through Car Solutions. According to Marilyn Ragsdale, a GEMC FCU loan officer, “Our members who use Car Solutions consistently receive excellent service and great pricing on vehicle purchases. We have educational resources such as consumer reports, CARFAX, and NADA access for our members and want them to contact us before they make a purchase.”

President’s Letter
Dear Credit Union member,

Several recent events have caused me to ponder our Credit Union’s role in our members’ lives and our community. I recently spoke with a member who expressed how much he loved our Credit Union because of the friendly, individualized service we provide. He appreciates the real sense of community that exists at our Credit Union. Of course, it’s great to hear those words of praise. This particular gentleman is a long-time GEMC FCU member, who has watched the Credit Union grow over many years. He remembers when we were a much smaller community, and he has experienced the close ties we have with all of the electrical membership cooperatives we serve. Many members who are newer to the Credit Union family may not have realized yet the high priority we put on creating this sense of community. When I am out talking with other members, they are often very surprised to learn that we have 11,300 members all over the state of Georgia and have been around since 1969. We take it as a compliment that people believe we are much smaller because it means we are delivering the kind of personal service that gives us that small community feel. We, like all credit unions, talk a lot about our philosophy of “people helping people.” And we want it to be more than empty words. I recently attended the state association of credit union’s annual meeting. The theme for the meeting focused on serving others on a very personal level. We want to be the real deal. We don’t want to serve that broad and illusive category of “members” – we want to serve you personally and individually. We want to serve everyone in your entire family right where they are, in all stages of life. We want to be
